Now that football season is over (although it feels like only yesterday…) I’m sure many of my friends and neighbors are already missing the thrill of watching a team compete to move a ball into their opponent’s end of the field or perhaps kick it between two uprights.

Well my friends, I bring good news! We are only weeks away from the start of Major League Rugby 2026 with a tighter, more consistent schedule. Jonesing for the in person experience? A more welcoming crowd you will not find in US professional sports no matter which team you support. Access and affordability are top of mind when I think about rugby in the USA.

Interested in some behind the scenes of professional rugby? NESN went to Free Jacks at Fort Quincy.

Post match celebrations hit different at Fort Quincy. Next home match? Why it’s the conference semi final on Father’s Day! Tickets go on sale later today. See you there?

2025 Free Jacks Rugby Awards Banquet

Last night I had the privilege of attending the NE Free Jacks awards banquet. I’m not going to spoil the results - the team will announce what they want to announce, except to say that I think they nailed the selections (which I would probably say regardless of which nominee got the nod!)

Anyway - one regular season home match remains this Sunday with a wicked cool festival surrounding it. Come out and support not only the work the guys put in to rugby but all the community work they do too.

Apple TV+ Introduces 'Sunday Night Soccer' With Weekly MLS Matches - MacRumors:

Apple and Major League Soccer today introduced Sunday Night Soccer. Apple TV+ subscribers will be able to watch a featured MLS match every Sunday evening during the upcoming 2025 season, at no additional cost.

That leaves “Saturday is for Rugby” open… Apple, MLR are you listening? :)

Ranger Picks 2024

Last year, I studiously kept a spreadsheet updated with their weekly MLR predictions from 5 New England FreeJacks fans and 1 Old Glory DC fan as a self proclaimed Jacks Rangers Show super fan. After each match I’d then update the spreadsheet with the wins, recalculate results then myself and TJRS would share them to the FreeJacks fan base.

We ran an experiment in the post season for more fans to participate in these weekly predictions and had quite a few entries without too much promotion.

So for MLR 2024, I’m pleased to announce that we’re going bigger than ever. We now have a website and will be taking predictions from any MLR fan via a Google Form. The form will be refreshed each Monday in the regular season.

Set a reminder and remember to visit https://rangerpicks.micro.blog/ every Monday in the MLR regular season!
