Still waiting for the schedule but the Competition Format update is going to take a moment to process. We’ve gone from 2 conferences with a 6 team playoff to an aborted attempt at 3 divisions with 8 team playoff to a single league table with 8 out of 11 teams making the playoffs.

Waiting for the 2024 MLR schedule to drop like:

If only there were some official news (including a schedule!) from the league but I’m excited to see some optimism from someone!

And I just got whamageddoned

After an amazing night at the Free Jacks kit reveal party, catching up with rugby friends, it is devastating to hear the news this morning that Rugby New York will be joining the Toronto Arrows in folding before the 2024 season. Along with pretty much everyone else, I’m even more worried about LA now.

New sticker, who dis?Laptop with several stickers including the new Ball Revere

After several multi hour phone calls with CVS technical support, often ending up in a more broken scenario than the start of the call, can anyone blame me for procrastinating making another call? Finally got around to it today… and I can now see my prescriptions AND all 3 kids!

Not only do I remember it, but I wrote my final high school computer science project with itโ€ฆ although I think we might have moved to Borland Pascal by the end of the school year?

House votes to expel Santos from Congress in historic vote | CNN Politics:

โ€œWeโ€™ve not whipped the vote and we wouldnโ€™t,โ€ Johnson told reporters Wednesday morning. โ€œI trust that people will make that decision thoughtfully and in good faith. I personally have real reservations about doing this, Iโ€™m concerned about a precedent that may be set for that.โ€

If I were speaker, I would absolutely be concerned that expelling a member that โ€œsought to fraudulently exploit every aspect of his House candidacy for his own personal financial profit.โ€ would set a precedent. Sorry, wait, I’d be concerned if it didn’t

How Apple can take on Amazonโ€”and win

I canโ€™t help but think that Apple is missing a huge opportunity here, and I wonder if part of the struggle is the split mentality between Apple Books as a reading app and Apple Books as a revenue-generating service. The thing is, improving the former ultimately helps the latter, and not having any way to link into library loans means that lots of peopleโ€”people who like to read booksโ€”will never even open the Apple Books app, much less become customers

Dan Moren makes some great points in this article. Integration with Libby is my #1 request

Filling out my app defaults made me reconsider bookmarking and read later. Going to give micro.blog bookmarking a shot.

App Defaults (Hemispheric Views)

I guess if 200 people have done it, it’s time for me to jump on the Hemispheric Views defaults bandwagon.

Thanks to Robb Knight for repeatedly posting about it to remind me, I’m also using Manton’s extended list. Unlike Robb, I’m not going to score myself.

Survey Sees Shift to Passwordless Authentication Accelerating - Security Boulevard

Top benefits of passwordless authentication included reducing the need for non-passwordless MFA offerings (50%), reducing the need for SSO (48%), reduction in support desk tickets (47%), reducing the need for privileged access management (46%), and streamlined onboarding/offboarding employees (42%).

I’m excited to see strong growth in eliminating passwords but I’d caution against thinking of it as a replacement to SSO or privileged access management and I’m not convinced in how it can streamline offboarding without additional support products.

SSO and passwordless can coexist effectively, giving businesses a central control point to ensure authentication and authorization policies are being adhered to. SSO is also a common touch point for onboarding and offboarding.

Passwordless - especially Passkeys - should replace passwords wherever possible as quickly as possible, but SSO has not lost its importance, and is also a good place to start with Passkeys!

Fedibrain question… I had a filling fixed upper left yesterday and now my top right teeth are very cold sensitive. That shouldn’t happen, right?

Richi Jennings asks if it’s too soon to force Passkeys? I say as long as the user has devices that support Passkeys then no, it’s not too soon to push users in that direction as long as you keep alternatives around for their older devices… for now.

We had so much fun at Bananaball World Tour season 1. Tickets for Fenway in Season 2 already acquired! Will the Banana Bandit return? Time will tell!

Thanks to Kelly for recommending this book.

A collection of awesome stories from the margin. Catching up with characters from Episode IV right before (or sometimes during) scenes from the movie. Some could be described as explaining some minor plot holes. So much fun. I was explaining it to my wife and she asked “does it tell you where in the story you are?” The answer is - not always explicitly but there’s always enough to figure it out. You don’t have to know the movie very well but it probably increases enjoyment.

I guess this is one way of finding out which kids didn’t put their phones in their lockers at school….

Happy national daughter’s day to my crazy, funny, hard working, smart, gymnastics loving, volleyball playing, rugby tolerating loving daughters!

So many “bug fixes and improvements” in apps today… almost like it was coordinated with something else happening. Hmm.
